Courtyard garden
A somewhat drab courtyard with paving and an astroturf lawn was transformed into a lush green oasis. The brief was to create an inviting garden space that looks as good from the inside as out and provides year-round interest. The existing sandstone paving was to be retained, alongside the client’s Terracotta warrior. Vignettes were created through the various windows overlooking the courtyard. The tactile corten steel panels and planters added a warm tone to soften the hard landscaping, placed on a bed of Breedon gravel that will allow moss to grow. Japanese inspired lush green plants in contrasting forms and textures provides interest and a nod to the Terracotta warrior’s Asian roots.
